I use generating and testing hypotheses in all of my media classes, however it is most frequently used in our Media Analysis class where high level questioning of media production and consumption are part of our daily routine. We frequently use role plays, pre and post-testing, etc., to test our results.

Apply and Reflect
1. What percentage of students using texting as their primary method of Media Consumption?
2. What percentage of students use Internet as their primary method of Media Consumption?
3. Change the values and add a new segement of the pie chart by incorporating another type of media consumption. Put the title next to the blue box.

I would use this type of teaching method when we talk about a variety of media effects. I could see using it in our Media Violence unit after surveying students on the type of violent media they are exposed to.
